If you have ever wanted to experience the historical past time of the gold mining era then this tour is for you! The streets of Juneau have a treasure tucked away that is made up of historical buildings and some remnants from the gold mining past time that was there. Take a hike through the mountains down the same path that used to be frequented by the gold miners. On this walking tour, you will come to the Last Chance Mining Museum. Learn about the history of the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Company that was founded in 1912.
The Last Chance Mining Museum holds the world's largest air compressors along with other artifacts that were used in the hard rock gold mining. Discover the history of the miners who tunneled through the mountains long ago to search for gold.
Finish off the tour by heading back into town. The last stop will be at the Alaskan Hotel & Bar, which is one of the oldest operating hotels in Alaska. Rumor has it that the hotel is haunted. Explore the Alaskan Hotel & Bar for yourself while you enjoy a flight on us. Share stories with your local, professional guide while you enjoy one complimentary beverage. Included: Entrance into Last Chance Mining Museum. The State Capital Building is open to the public Monday - Friday. For tours that take place on the weekends, there is no access inside the Capital Building. One complimentary beverage at the Alaskan Bar.

What if it rains?
Tour operates in the rain or sunshine. It is not canceled due to rain and we provide ponchos for guests if it's rainy. It is recommended to bring appropriate clothing based on the weather.
What will I need?
Juneau is located in the largest temperate rainforest in the world. We encourage you to always be prepared for rain and hope for the sun. If you dress for the weather you will always be prepared. We recommend active, quick dry clothing including comfortable walking shoes with good tread. The weather in Juneau changes frequently and can range from sunny and 70 degrees Fahrenheit to 50 degrees and raining.
Will I see any bears on this tour and what happens if I do?
In Alaska the wilderness and city often blend together and bears roam freely throughout Juneau. Your safety is our top priority. All our guides carry bear spray and receive bear saftety training which includes habits, body language, and behavior. If a bear is seen, your guide will direct you and the group on how to proceed to remain safe. However this is not a designated bear watching tour and nothing can be guaranteed!
