Excursion Overview

Come on an exciting adventure by e-bike tour in Southeast Alaska.

On new peddle assist, electric bikes, your guide will lead you on a 10 mile (roundtrip) ride along the coastline to where the road ends at the edge of the extensive wilderness. At the Tongass National Rainforest, you will take a guided hike through dense rainforest, across a stream to a beautiful waterfall and the late season salmon run. This 1.25 mile educational hike features a wide array of flora, fauna, and beautiful beach views from which you may spot seals swimming, salmon jumping, humpback whales feeding near the shoreline or orcas passing by.

With no more than 12 guests per group, this small group tour provides an intimate and educational experience. Experienced guides, with first-hand experience as Alaskan educators, fishermen, divers, dog sled guides, and professional tour guides bring personality and passion to this experience. You’ll end this tour with a delicious treat of smoked salmon, salmon dip and other snacks (including vegan options), hot and cold beverages as you enjoy the scenic view and reflect on the adventure you’ve just experienced.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

This excursion consisted of a 50-minute round-trip van ride to a site closer to the rain forest, a 40-minute round trip e-bike ride on a highway, and a 1 mile hike. The e-bike ride was not in the rain forest at all, rather, it was along a coastal highway (with no ocean view) to the rain forest. At the rain forest, we spent about 45 minutes observing the beach and collecting edible plants. This was interesting but we were under the impression we'd have around an hour to hike in the rain forest. The guide took us on a quick 15 minute speed hike through the rain forest once she asked our group if we wanted to go on a hike (which we all did). She also told us on our e-bike ride along the highway that she would ride behind us and shout if there were any cars approaching from behind, but she forgot to shout a few times and cars whizzed by with no warning. Overall this was a fun experience but definitely not worth the $.
