Fairbanks Shore Excursions by Locals

We are a local Alaska company that aims to bring you the best tours and experiences that Fairbanks has to offer. Our goal is to make your Alaskan cruise the trip of a lifetime!

Fairbanks: The Aurora Borealis Capital of North America

Fairbanks, the largest city in Alaska's interior, is the top destination in the United States for viewing the breathtaking Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. The Aurora season is August 21st through April 21st, coinciding with the end of the cruise ship season, so Fairbanks is a popular destination for cruise ship guests looking to extend their trip to Alaska and take in the majesty of the Aurora. In contrast, from late April to early August, Fairbanks is known as the Land of the Midnight Sun, meaning it experiences daylight for almost 24 hours a day (and for a stretch of 70 days within that timeframe, the sun does not set at all!). Fairbanks is also known for its proximity to Chena Hot Springs, a natural thermal hot springs resort and spa. The city is also a half-day's drive from the Arctic Circle along the famous, rugged Dalton Highway, offering views of the iconic Trans-Alaska Pipeline.

Reviews for our Fairbanks tours:

“Gina was our tour guide to see the Northern lights. Despite our feeling that we would not see any due to the clouds, Gina was much more optimistic! And we actually did see the lights. Her knowledge of the northern lights along with Alaska, was so educational and enjoyable. We had so much fun hearing her stories. Gina's goal is to provide the best experience for her clients. You will not regret booking with Alaska Shore Excursions! Highly recommend!!”

Sandra H for the Aurora Viewing Lodge Trip

We have rode the Denali Star Train on many occasions and have never had one complaint. This train ride in Gold Star Class is an amazing journey through Alaska and we definitely highly recommend it. Everyone from the first phone call and email to book the train to the last step getting off the rain were very friendly, courteous and professional. Kudos to all staff who helped make our many trips aboard the train comfortable and fantastic.”

Gary S for the Train from Fairbanks to Anchorage via Denali Star Train

“Gavin was an incredible guide. We really enjoyed this tour. Because of all the clouds we were not expecting to see the Northern Lights, but Gavin spotted a break in the clouds and we caught a brief glimpse of the lights. Also, thanks for providing a gluten free meal option. It was delicious."
