Nestled in the heart of the Lynn Canal, Haines is a small town of around 2000 residents that greets thousands of cruise ship passengers every season. Haines is surrounded by the Chilkat and Chilkoot Inlets to the east and west, and it's also home to the 52 mile long glacially fed Chilkat River. Along the river is the 49,000 acre Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, which houses the world's largest concentration of bald eagles! Because of its remoteness and proximity to the Alaskan wilderness, Haines is an excellent location for wildlife and nature focused tours. Haines is also a short ferry ride from the port town of Skagway if you're interested in booking an excursion there (make sure to reserve your return ferry ride too).

You can often find bald eagles, harbor seals, and brown bears along our Haines tours. In August, pink salmon begin their run of the Cholkoot River to spawn. Our wildlife kayaking tour is popular among guests.
