No, for safety reasons you will not have the opportunity to run the sled. You'll be able to sit back and watch firsthand while your expert musher controls their team!

The trails are on uneven natural terrain in the forest with some boardwalks near the mercantile.

Close-toed shoes, layered clothing and waterproof clothing are recommended. For more detailed packing tips for your Alaskan vacation, check out our What to Pack for Your Alaskan Cruise guide.

Guests must be comfortable walking short distances on uneven surfaces.

Although this tour can accommodate a collapsible wheelchair, our Skagway Sled Dog Tour may present challenges for guests with mobility limitations. The trails throughout the camp consist of uneven natural terrain.

The experience also includes a Unimog ride up the mountain to access the dog sled area, which is not wheelchair accessible. Guests must be able to climb five steps to enter and exit the Unimog and walk short distances within the sled dog area.

For guests with wheelchairs looking to go to the Skagway Musher’s Camp in Skagway, we recommend doing the Skagway Musher's Camp and S'Mores Roasting or Skagway Musher's Camp and Gold Panning, as those both take place at our base camp but do not require the Unimog ride up the mountain.

There are no age restrictions for this tour.

Non-alcoholic beverages in closeable containers and snacks are allowed on tour.

Easy to book online with clear confirmation details and simple instructions on where to go. All staff we interacted with were extremely kind, genuine, and shared a lot of interesting history and information about the excursion and the surrounding area. The dogs were incredible to see. So energetic, excited, and clearly loved to run. Getting to spend more personalized time with them afterward was a highlight, especially holding the young dogs and hearing their cute "cheese" names. The ride up to the camp was beautiful, with stunning views of Skagway and the surrounding nature. The camp itself has a charming little town area with shopping, beer for adults, and hot chocolate for kids. One thing to note: in the summer, this is not a traditional snow sled experience. There are 16 huskies (not fully fluffed in summer coats) who pull a wheeled " golf cart" that looks like a sled. It s completely powered by the dogs themselves, which makes it impressive to experience.

Incredible! We had an absolutely amazing time on this sled dog adventure. The dogs were adorable and so so excited to go for a run. Cuddling with the puppies was, of course, fantastic. It could not have been a more wonderful experience, and the staff was phenomenal every step of the way. Our group included people in their 60's and in their 20's, and we all loved this adventure so much. Also, it was an easy meet-up from the cruise-boat, which I was initially nervous about. Great excursion!

This was a great experience! We loved getting to see how well run the camp was, and the dogs seemed so happy to see and interact with the visitors. It is clear that the team takes great care of the dogs at all stages of their lives, and the conditions felt safe and well maintained during our entire visit. Highly recommend!

This excursion is a MUST when in Skagway! Our guide Chris who picked us up at the port was so friendly and knowledgeable and shared some great facts about Skagway. The dog sledding was a highlight and so much fun! The SUPER HIGHLIGHT was being able to cuddle with the Alaskan husky puppies after the sled ride! It was really interesting learning about the dogs, their training, their lives. We loved this excursion and it was worth it!
