Ketchikan, the most southeasternmost city in Alaska is also the fifth most populous city in the state with a population of around 8,000 residents. It was established in 1885 by Mike Martin and named after Ketchikan Creek, which flows through the city. During the first half of the 20th century, Ketchikan was infamous for it’s red-light district with brothels on either side of the creek. This area is known as Creek Street and is now home to museums and gift shops.
