Excursion Overview

Leave all traces of civilization behind and delight in the beauty of Alaska's remote glaciers!

On this Skagway helicopter tour, you'll leave all traces of civilization behind and experience the infinite beauty of Alaska's remote glaciers.

Depending on which pier you're coming from, a 5~30 minute walk brings you to the heliport where, following a safety video, you are outfitted with glacier boots that go over your footwear and loaded onto the helicopter. Lift off from the historic Skagway waterfront and head into a rugged region of sheer mountains, majestic valleys, and massive glaciers for the ultimate glacier helicopter tour.

Flight routes and landing zones are selected daily based on the weather forecast to ensure that you will see the best sights that the area has to offer. Jagged peaks towering over the Chilkat Glacier, cascading waterfalls surrounding the Ferebee Glacier, or the spectacular "river of ice" known as the Meade Glacier, may be among the wonders you will encounter in your 40 minutes, round trip, of helicopter time!

Once you have reached your glacial destination, you are given the rare opportunity to explore one of Mother Nature's greatest marvels. Enjoy a walking exploration of the river of ice, while experienced glacier guides answer your questions and explain the awesome forces at work below your feet. With another 40 minutes on the glacier, you have plenty of time to wander, snap some pictures, and revel in the beauty.

I can't say how rewarding this experience was. I'm so glad we booked with Alaska Shore Excursions because it was easy to find it was affordable and it was the best moment of my whole trip. Hiking on the glacier was breathtaking and the ride was truly amazing. Bring cash for your pilot and your tour guides because they work so hard and deserve every bit.

Our family loved the interaction and knowledge of our pilot. Using a different route to and from the glacier provided multiple views and unique opportunities for sights and questions. The glacier was amazing. From the landing, to hiking, drinking fresh glacier water, and breathtaking pictures, it's an opportunity of a lifetime.
