Excursion Overview

Discover Alaska from Above and on the Ice with a Skagway Helicopter Tour!

Leave civilization behind and soar into the remote glaciers of Alaska on this unforgettable Skagway helicopter tour. A short walk from your pier brings you to the heliport, where you’ll watch a safety video, don glacier boots over your footwear, and board the helicopter.

Lift off from the historic Skagway waterfront and fly over sheer mountains, majestic valleys, and massive glaciers on your 40-minute round-trip flight. Daily flight paths and landing zones are chosen based on weather to ensure the best possible views.
Marvel at jagged peaks above the Chilkat Glacier, cascading waterfalls near Ferebee Glacier, or the spectacular “river of ice” of Meade Glacier.

Once on the glacier, enjoy a guided walk across this frozen wonder. Learn from experienced glacier guides, take stunning photos, and soak in the raw beauty of Alaska’s icefields. With another 40 minutes on the glacier, there’s plenty of time to wander and fully immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Most departures are scheduled to align with cruise ship arrival times, with options typically available in the morning and afternoon. This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

This is a great guided tour from start to finish. The flight to and from the glacier fields is narrated by the pilot with history, points of interest, and opportunities for super photos. After landing on the glacier, the guides there are well versed on the characteristics of this massive ice flow. I was amazed with busting the myth of this smooth white surface you see from afar. Pebbles of surface ice, clear beautiful blue ice, riverlets of water sitting, flowing, and cascading into crevices, and stunning crevices and holes. You'll be amazed.
