Excursion Overview

An awesome adventure into the Yukon Territory of Canada!

On the Skagway Yukon Discovery Adventure, we will first climb the mountainous Klondike Highway driving north to the US/Canadian border, paralleling the 1898 Gold Rush Trail to the White Pass summit at 3292 feet. Along the way view coastal rainforest, magnificent waterfalls, glaciers, and icy blue lakes.

Once in Canada, we journey through the spectacular scenery of dramatic lakes encircled by mile-high mountains and the Northern Boreal forest wilderness. Included are Bove Island, Tutshi, and Tagish Lakes. Pose at the Yukon Border sign for a great photo opportunity! Visit the historic Carcross Village, see the "World's Smallest Desert" and marvel at the gorgeous green Emerald Lake. We watch for wildlife (including Bears) all along our route.

For lunch, we stop at Wild Adventure Yukon (formerly known as Caribou Crossing) where you'll see the North's premier educational wildlife gallery, featuring over 100 Yukon and Ice Age taxidermy animals, and a Royal Canadian Mounted Police display. Lunch is delicious barbecue chicken with sides (vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free option available).

You'll also visit the Sled Dog camp where you can view the Alaskan Huskies, including precious puppies (sled dog or foster pups), and see some cute animals in the Petting Farm area. Please be advised that one-on-one interaction with the dogs cannot be guaranteed. Additionally, the order of stops will vary at your guide's discretion.

After having done so many walking and hiking tours, this tour was a welcomed change of pace. We had a wonderful time. The bus is relatively small, so there were only about 20 people in our group. Our driver/guide was so knowledgeable and so friendly. He took us to so many beautiful lookouts, and if it was too crowded, he'd skip it and make sure we hit it on the way back so we'd get a better experience. We made a ton of stops and took a million pictures of the lakes, mountains, everything. We also got to see the sled dog training facility, which was very cool, and we had a delicious lunch. Only a few dogs were out for playing while we were there, so don't expect to be drowning in husky puppies, but we still enjoyed our time. Highly recommend this tour!

This was a wonderful tour with a great variety of beautiful scenery. And in contrast to the train, gave many stops to get out and take photos! We had a wonderful tour guide who we thoroughly enjoyed!

We really enjoyed that tour. Driver made many stops for us to take pictures and he knew the good spots to stop. He was very interesting to listen to. Very informative.

We loved this excursion. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, the opportunity to see and take pictures of so many beautiful places, this one is for you. We went with 2 adults and 2 tween age kids. My daughter really loved the lunch spot for the puppies and animals and all the photo ops along the way. My son loved the stories and seeing all the terrain and loved the vegetarian option for lunch. My husband enjoyed the whole experience and sleeping on the bus on the way back, lol. I loved getting to see all the landscapes without having to drive ourselves or be trapped on the train. Highly receommend!
