Excursion Overview

Escape into the heart of history!

Travel 67.5 miles by train between Skagway, AK, and Carcross, YT, traveling the same route that the Klondike stampeders traversed in 1898! Couple that with a motorcoach transfer along the scenic Klondike Highway to/from Skagway, with a stop at Emerald Lake for photos, for the perfect combination of your Canadian & Alaskan holiday adventures.

A hearty boxed lunch will be served on board as the train travels the length of Lake Bennett and arrives in Carcross, YT. Bennett, BC, is accessible only via the White Pass train or by hiking the world-famous Chilkoot Trail, so it's a very exclusive and completely unique experience. Wander through the historic Bennett Station House museum and the remains of the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site.

If untouched, breathtaking scenery, a railroad adventure, and a day packed with historic happenings are what you're looking for, then the Skagway Bennett Scenic Railroad Journey is the excursion for you!

Our family of 4 just returned from a once-in-a-lifetime cruise in Alaska. We wanted to experience everything we could, but excursions through our cruise line were extremely expensive. I was so thrilled to find Alaska Shore Excursions for our trip to Lake Bennett and the Yukon. It was our only opportunity to travel into Alaska as the cruise stays near the shore. We had such a great time! We began with the bus ride and our guide, Rose, was wonderful! Knowledgeable, friendly, engaging, and accommodating. She made sure we stopped to take pictures at special sites along the way. Our trip back on the train was so fun! Chris and several other employees made our girls feel special and engaged with us throughout the trip. They encouraged us to step outside to experience the trip as we traveled by train through the White Gap Pass. We loved our day! It was a full, full day, but we left so grateful for the experience!

A little disappointed that there was no more to be seen on the scenic ride than what there was. A few small waterfalls from snow melting off the top of the mountains and a lot of greenery and that was about it. Did not feel that it was worth the money that we paid for it.

This was a terrific tour! Although it was not available through our cruise line we took it anyway, and we are so glad we did. The train, bus, and lunch were perfect! (The sunshine on the entire trip was an added bonus!)

Everyone says you need to take the White Pass Train. But this tour is the one you need to do if you really want to get the most out of your Skagway stop. I recommend the later option, since the train back had incredible views of the White Pass later in the day when the sky may clear up a bit. Plus the direction of travel is so breathtaking coming down the White Pass instead of up. Would highly recommend this excursion over the roundtrip White Pass train. Lake Bennett and the Emerald Lake are so pretty and offer amazing photo-ops, plus you get to say you entered the Yukon territory. Tour was 8 hours as stated and includes a boxed lunch.
