Travel 67.5 miles by train between Skagway, AK, and Carcross, YT, traveling the same route that the Klondike stampeders traversed in 1898! Couple that with a motorcoach transfer along the scenic Klondike Highway to/from Skagway, with a stop at Emerald Lake for photos, for the perfect combination of your Canadian & Alaskan holiday adventures.

A hearty boxed lunch will be served on board as the train travels the length of Lake Bennett and arrives in Carcross, YT. Bennett, BC, is accessible only via the White Pass train or by hiking the world-famous Chilkoot Trail, so it's a very exclusive and completely unique experience. Wander through the historic Bennett Station House museum and the remains of the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site.

This tour typically operates every day of the week, departing at 7:45am and 9:30am.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

Requirements:

A Passport or Passport ID card is required for all passengers over 16. Children 15 and under are required to have a Passport or (U.S. citizens only) an original, raised seal birth certificate.
All passengers are required to climb five steep steps onto the train car - this tour is not equipped with a wheelchair lift
Tickets must be printed and presented on the day of the excursion
Your ticket is valid only for the departure time purchased

Duration: Approximately 8 hours (roundtrip from downtown Skagway)

2.5 hours - scenic train trip to Lake Bennett, BC**
45 minutes - stopover at the historic Bennett Rail House
1.5 hours - scenic train trip to Carcross, YT
30 minutes - in Carcross for exploration and shopping
2.75 hours - scenic bus ride to Skagway** (Includes stop at "Welcome to Alaska" signpost)

**The 7:45 AM departure will go train up and bus back. The 9:30 AM departure will be bus up and train back.

This tour meets at the Skagway Train Depot. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

This tour is limited mobility accessible. All passengers are required to climb five steep steps onto the train and bus. This tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs or scooters, as the train and bus are not equipped with a wheelchair lift. There is no storage for collapsible wheelchairs or strollers on the tour bus. All strollers and wheelchairs must be left at the train depot.

The standard option is a turkey sandwich with sun-dried tomato aioli, fresh tomato, and lettuce. The gluten-free option is a turkey sandwich on a GF bun. The vegetarian option is a sandwich on French bread with lettuce, tomato, chevre goat cheese, balsamic roasted red onion, eggplant, and zucchini. All include a sea salt rice crispy bar, cheese, grapes, and a bag of chips. The non-GF options include a cookie bar.

Yes, each train car is equipped with a restroom.

No, the bus doesn't have restroom facilities, but they will stop at the restroom at least once during the return trip.

No, this tour is a scenic train trip in one direction and a scenic bus ride in the other direction. The order of train/bus travel varies on departure day and time.

Each rail car holds approximately 43 passengers. We do not assign seats, passengers will be instructed by the Station Master which train car they are welcome to board. Once in the assigned car, passengers are free to choose any seat available. Passengers will not be given their car assignment until the day of travel when they meet with the Station Master.

Each bus seats 24 guests.

Guests must be able to climb several steps into the train and bus. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.

We had a wonderful time! We enjoyed to spectacular views and learning the history of the Yukon Trail. We would definitively love to take this excursion again!

Our tour guide drove us to Yukon, stopped by the bridal veil fall, desert dune, and Yukon border. It was eye-opening experience. We enjoyed the train ride from Carcross back to Skagway. We also got to stop by and enjoy the nature. Lunch was great! We all enjoyed the tour very much :)

Even better than expected! This was not your typical cruise line herd 'em on and off excursion. We received a small group personalized experience. Short walk from ship to the meeting depot. Van driver was very friendly and informative throughout drive and at the stops. Our train car was comfortable, comparatively empty and separate from the packed cruise line cars. Bonus - saw 4 bears and some caribou from the train. Highly recommend an Alaska Shore Excursion experience on your visit to Alaska!
