Excursion Overview

Cook your catch wilderness dining adventure

The best fish you’ll ever eat in Alaska is the one you catch yourself! Embark on an authentic fishing adventure in the pristine wilderness along Alaska’s coastline.

You’ll be outfitted with waterproof boots, bib overalls, a hooded jacket, hat, and gloves to ensure you're comfortable as you set off in a stable, open-air 24-foot skiff. Glide through awe-inspiring scenery while you cast your line—what you catch will become the centerpiece of a gourmet meal at a remote campsite! With just six guests per boat, your professional guide will tailor the experience to match your interests and skill level.

As you fish, keep an eye out for wildlife—seals, eagles, whales, porpoises, spawning salmon, and occasionally even bears. Using top-quality gear, you’ll have the opportunity to hone your skills while landing a variety of rockfish, cod, or Pacific salmon (seasonal).

After fishing, the skiff will take you to a secluded wilderness campsite nestled among ancient cedar and spruce trees, where a crackling fire awaits. There, you’ll savor a gourmet meal featuring your freshly caught fish, served over a saffron-infused bouillabaisse-inspired stew (shellfish-free). Enjoy sourdough rolls with garlic aioli, a signature rhubarb and blueberry crisp, and steaming mugs of coffee or hot chocolate. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories of the Alaskan way of life and the satisfaction of a truly unique experience.

Please Note: For the month of October guests will be taken to the Alaska Fish House for their meal rather than the beach picnic

Frequently Asked Questions

A skiff is an open boat that is propelled by an outboard motor. A skiff is a modern cousin to Vancouver's longboat or the Native Alaskan oceangoing canoe. We operate 20 ft. Raider skiffs equipped with Honda 90 HP outboard motors.

We like to ensure that all guests are as comfortable as possible when joining us for their fishing adventure. Therefore, we limit guests to 6 in each skiff, but the average is 4 or 5.

This trip is conducted on 24’ aluminum skiffs equipped with 175 horsepower
outboards. Each guest sits in their own bucket seat. These seats absorb wave
impacts, can spin to face any direction, enabling fishing comfortably from a seated
position. All our boats are custom-built by Raider Boats in Colville WA.

Each guest is provided with Helly Hansen waterproof rain pants, a raincoat, a warm wool hat, wool socks, rubber boots, and gloves. You will be prepared for any weather (and you'll definitely want to have someone take a photo of you dressed in true Alaskan fashion!). We are proud to feature Penn rods on our excursions and a selection of rods that varies depending on the species of fish we are pursuing.

If you have any food allergies, please inform us at checkout. There is no shellfish included in the meal.

We have been operating fishing tours for ten years, and we rarely have passengers that have to deal with seasickness, even those who are prone to motion sickness are comfortable on our boats. The boats which we operate have a low center of gravity, eliminating the rolling motion that usually generates a queasy stomach. However, if you do get sick there will be no extra charge.

In order to fish, the State of Alaska requires you to purchase a one-day Alaska fishing license. The cost of a non-resident 1-day fishing license is $15.00.

My wife and I had a great time on this trip. We came near the end of the season so we did not catch a whole lot, but we caught enough to have a very nice lunch. The trip was a great experience. Beautiful scenery, a guide who wanted you to have a good time, lots of wildlife, and good food.

We really enjoyed fishing with Captain Mike! We caught several rock fish which he cleaned and the chef cooked up for a delicious lunch around the campfire. Unfortunately we didn t catch any salmon that were in season, but the rock fish were surprisingly tasty. We also appreciated the provided rain coats, pants and boots that kept us dry and warm.

The rock fishing was fun, the lunch was incredible! But we didn't have the most outgoing, interactive guide. We expected to actively fish the majority of the time in the boat, but instead too much time was spent trolling while we all quietly sat there riding in the boat.

Our Captain, David, was an excellent guide and captain. He explained things thoroughly and answered all our questions. We got into several fish and had a great time. I highly recommend this excursion!
