Minimum weight is 90 lbs, maximum weight is 240 lbs. You must have full use of limbs to get in and out of the canoe and to assist in paddling the canoe across the lake. You must be able to endure approximately 1 mile of hiking on uneven terrain and 2 hours of canoe paddling.

Due to the intensity of this tour, we recommend that injured guests do not take this tour. Tour guides may deny participation on the day of the tour if they are made aware of any physical problems that would compromise the group's safety or progress.

Yes! We will be using a native-style paddle canoe and everyone is expected to paddle along with the guide.

Due to recent flooding and glacial ice erosion, this tour no longer includes walking on the glacier. Instead, the tour will explore the areas directly in front of the glacier.

Bald eagles, herons, shorebirds, arctic terns, and waterfowl are all common sights, however, this is not a designated wildlife tour and specific wildlife cannot be guaranteed.

The temperature really depends on the weather, but expect the temperature near the glacier to be 5-10 degrees cooler.

Yes! When arriving on the Norwegian Bliss or Norwegian Jewel, you will be greeted by our tour guides in front of your cruise ship. It is important that you are ready to exit the ship upon arrival in order to have ample time to meet your guides.

Each canoe carries 8 guests. A maximum of 2 canoes are used at a time.

Ice caves at the Mendenhall Glacier are natural features that form and collapse unpredictably, and they are not currently accessible on this tour.

However, this experience takes you along the glacial moraine to within approximately 200 yards of the glacier’s face, the closest distance permitted for safety. From here, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the glacier, including vivid blue ice, crevasses, and dramatic formations that most visitors never get to see.
