Ketchikan Customized Private Van Tour

8 reviews

Excursion Overview

Private transportation through the streets of historic Ketchikan!

This tour is fully customizable, and your private party of up to 14 will choose your own stops. Typically you'll have four main stops during the four hour duration*, but it is entirely up to you!

Your driver/guide will pick you up right from your cruise dock, a hotel, the airport, or another location at your request. You'll travel in an 11- or 14-seater transit van, following a custom route of your choosing.

One popular stop is downtown Ketchikan and historic Creek Street. Creek Street is characterized by its colorful buildings (and colorful history as a former Red Light District)! Now the street, which is actually a boardwalk mounted on stilts, is lined with locally owned shops, restaurants, and art galleries to discover.

If you choose, your tour includes admission to Saxman Native Village for a photo opportunity. The village's Totem Park houses 25 authentic Tlingit totems. Each totem's symbols tell a unique story, and this stop provides an excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about Alaska's first peoples' culture and history.

If you're interested in seeing Alaska's natural wonders, we can also take a trip along George Inlet to beautiful Beaver Falls. You'll want to have your camera ready for this scenic drive. We'll make stops for shopping and dining upon request. Be sure to ask your guide for a local recommendation!

*Please contact us if you're interested in a longer tour for an additional fee.

Our driver Tom had an intimate knowledge of local tribal history. We were on a tight schedule and were able to visit most of the sites on our list. We were able to see totems, bears, and eagles.

Our driver, Sam, ensured we had an awesome day in Ketchikan. She took us to places we would have never thought to go if we were on our own. Booking our own van for the day was the best experience of our entire cruise.

Excellent tour! Michelle was our driver for this tour. She helped us decide where to go. We saw a bear by Herring Cove, waterfalls, Saxman Village where she grew up, and then walked around town...Creek Street and Salmon Ladder. It was great hearing her stories about growing up in Ketchikan. Super relaxing tour where we decided what to do. I'd recommend this to everyone who wants to see Ketchikan at their own pace.

Great overall experience. Easy booking, clear communication, good value, very flexible. We were met at the pier by our guide. The van was new and immaculate. Our guide, Tom, was AMAZING. As a life long resident he was knowledgeable and made suggestions of things to do and see. He took us to all the places we planned and more. My elderly parents are limited in their mobility and he was very kind and gracious. He went out of his way to assist them in and out of the van. My mother wanted to see her childhood home and although it had no parking in the area he graciously circled until she was ready to be picked up again. I priced it out and for our group we ended up spending 0 less to see multiple sites than it would have cost to see just one or two via a traditional excursion. And we avoided bussing with large groups or being told when we had to leave. A+ experience.
