Ketchikan Customized Private Van Tour

Excursion Overview

Private transportation through the streets of historic Ketchikan!

This tour is fully customizable, and your private party of up to 14 will choose your own stops. Typically you'll have four main stops during the four hour duration*, but it is entirely up to you!

Your driver/guide will pick you up right from your cruise dock, a hotel, the airport, or another location at your request. You'll travel in an 11- or 14-seater transit van, following a custom route of your choosing.

One popular stop is downtown Ketchikan and historic Creek Street. Creek Street is characterized by its colorful buildings (and colorful history as a former Red Light District)! Now the street, which is actually a boardwalk mounted on stilts, is lined with locally owned shops, restaurants, and art galleries to discover.

If you choose, your tour includes admission to Saxman Native Village for a photo opportunity. The village's Totem Park houses 25 authentic Tlingit totems. Each totem's symbols tell a unique story, and this stop provides an excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about Alaska's first peoples' culture and history.

If you're interested in seeing Alaska's natural wonders, we can also take a trip along George Inlet to beautiful Beaver Falls. You'll want to have your camera ready for this scenic drive. We'll make stops for shopping and dining upon request. Be sure to ask your guide for a local recommendation!

*Please contact us if you're interested in a longer tour for an additional fee.

The tour was from a local company that was family owned by natives and had a lot of history on the island. Michelle, our tour driver was knowledgeable and gave us a great lesson about the significance of totem poles and took us to a stream that gave us one of the best National Geographic moments ever. We watched a bear steal a salmon from a bald eagle and then warn off another bear. She took us wherever we wanted to go and was very personable. I highly recommend this excursion.

My family and I were on an Alaskan cruise on the Norwegian Bliss that included my 90-year-old mother, who utilized a wheelchair. We booked a private van for 11 of my family. This was the best decision we could make. It did rain and the driver took us to different locations based on our preference. The driver fully utilized the limited time we had in port and made sure we returned to the ship on time. I would highly recommend this tour especially with Alaska Shore Excursions.

We had a great time with Mike. He accommodated all our requests (including stopping at Walmart..lol) and showed us the sights! Bears, eagles, salmon, seals, beaches, totems etc. Very knowledgeable about local history and nature in the area. After some pretty busy days, being chauffeured around was a great choice for our group! Communication and pick up by the team at the dock was great too.

The customized tour was amazing. Our guide was a local and knew everything about the area. He took us to the beach where we saw killer whales from shore; to a river with salmon and golden eagles; to where we saw an amazing older native who was a national treasure make "totem poles" and into town. We were told the history of the Ketchikan area and he answered every question we asked. Thank you Mike for providing such a wonderful tour for our group of 8 from Canada. We would highly recommend this tour!
