We had a great excursion and loved hearing about the island's heritage and stories on our tour. We saw humpbacks, orcas, bald eagles, a sea lion, and an otter during our trip. We were very pleased and would recommend this trip to anyone considering it. Transportation to and from the cruise port was easy and efficient.
Peter G on the Icy Strait Premier Whale Watching Adventure
Our hosts were delightful. They drove us all over the island and shared the history and cultural background of each location. We saw a few bears and bald eagles in the wild, which was really cool. Overall, this was a wonderful experience!
Kathryn A - On the Icy Strait Wilderness Island Tour
I would highly recommend this fishing trip to anyone going to Alaska. The captain put us on fish almost immediately, and we caught about two dozen. We also got to see sea lions and sea otters. The captain was very informative and was fantastic with my grandchildren. If you are thinking of doing a halibut fishing tour, this is the one to take, and if we go back to Alaska, we will definitely do it again.

I can't say enough about the stream trout fly fishing experience with my guide, Nathalie. She was knowledgeable, well-equipped, and a good teacher. We got into a lot of fish in short order. She then found a Coastal bear not long after. All this in plenty of time to get back to the ship without rushing.

I'd definitely take advantage of it! Only a few cruise ships stop in Icy Strait, so if yours does, I'd make the most of the opportunity to get off the cruise ship and explore this fantastic location. There is a beautiful boardwalk with shops, restaurants, and a museum for guests to visit. You can also ride on the local zipline.
You definitely can! Icy Strait is also known as "Bear Island" in Alaska. This area is famous for having the highest concentration of brown bears per square mile in the world, with an average of 1-2 bears per square mile. We have a wide selection of bear tours.
