Ketchikan Sea Kayak Eco-Tour

From downtown Ketchikan, take a trip north to the Clover Pass Resort. Here you will experience a much quieter, local vibe and even the weather seems to typically be much nicer. Our guides will paddle along with you as you travel through the protected ocean waterways of Clover Pass. This route will have you circumnavigating 2 to 3 small islands that feature an immense array of inter-tidal life, a bald eagles nest, and resident sea lions and seals. There is also a potential to encounter many types of migratory birds, Sitka deer, Pacific porpoises, humpback whales and even Orcas as well!

With a maximum of 6 guests per guide, our kayak tour is a special experience that is both intimate and educational. With such small groups on each tour, we are able to provide the benefit to our guests of spending more time paddling on the water than other water tours and have no desire to make our guests feel rushed throughout any portion of the experience.

The truly unique aspect that sets our tours apart is our terrific team of guides. The crew we have features mainly local guides who have experience working in various industries throughout the winter.

Super nice guides, delicious snacks, beautiful scenery, excellent opportunity for paddlers of all ability. Fun not scary!

Sep 2022 - Lester T.

Absolutely fantastic experience with Dave. Very safety conscious, taking the time to review basics and what to do if there was an emergency. Great pacing and very knowledgeable about the location and wildlife. Amazing experience with seeing bald eagles, humpback whales (doing a bubble fishing!), sea otters, sealions, fishing, star fish, game, etc. It was one of the most moving experiences in Alaska (although you can never guarantee seeing all of the wildlife we did at just a few meters away). Well worth it and would repeat in a heart beat!

The kayak tour was beautiful! We saw eagles and elephant seals. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the tour size was perfect. Thank you for a great day!

Everybody involved from the van driver to the kayak guides were first rate. The trip is a tremendous value and I highly recommend it.

Aug 2022 - Kimberly R.

Our guides were very professional and gave us oodles of information about the waters, sea life, animals, and terrain. They were also very aware of all kayakers and their abilities. I felt this was well worth the cost.

A very enjoyable time on the kayak eco tour. Our guide Dave and company were delightful and very informative. Loved the seltzer water and appetizers following the excursion. A very enjoyable day for my wife and me.

It was great! Our guide Dave was the best. He made the excursion awesome. I would definitely recommend. Thanks for a time of a lifetime!

We loved this shore excursion! There was a slight drizzle of rain during part of our tour but since the company provided us with brand new, very high-quality rain gear, there was no problem with getting wet -- and the small amount of misty rain on my face was actually refreshing. Austin was the tour guide for our group of 4 people and he was very pleasant and knowledgable about many subjects. We kayaked over to some small islands and went around them, enjoying the wildlife along the way. We saw a small island full of bald eagles up in trees, a couple of seals near another island watched us from a safe distance, and some fish were jumping nearby. The paddling wasn't too strenuous so we could relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After we finished, we enjoyed delicious homemade salmon dip and hummus with cracker, carrots and some hot chocolate. Everything about this tour was enjoyable and well-run and I highly recommend it!

A delightful and exhilierpqataing experience. It was well organised and supervised, excellent kayaks and overall it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Jul 2022 - Caleb K.

Forest was a good tour guide but the tandem kayaks were hard to steer straight so it felt more like a big chore/workout rather than a fun excursion.

Jul 2022 - Kayla G.

This was a fun and fantastic kayak tour of the coastline around a few of the many islands surrounding Ketchikan. We wish our ship had given us longer to explore as the water was crystal clear and the trees were full of bald eagles.

Had a wonderful time kayaking! I'm in my 60's and not a good swimmer. I felt very safe and my arms were only a little tired at the end. Our guide was interesting and the pace was just right. Would do this tour again!

Wonderful excursion and experience. Highly recommend. We wore dry suits and the staff had snacks and hot drinks waiting for us when we returned from our rainy hike during which we saw nesting eagles. Our guide David was highly knowledgeable about the area and shared interesting stories.

This was a great tour! Our guides were Grayson and Matt. Groups were small and they outfitted us with what we needed to kayak. We saw Stellar sea lions and harbor seals and a bald eagle. Weather turned bad on our way back and had to be picked up by a boat, both guides handled that efficiently and without drama! The owner of the kayak company, Devon, drove us back to Ketchikan. Really interesting trip, great people Highly recommend it.

Melissa was awesome. She was knowledgeable about the area. She had such a positive demeanor, it was infectious. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion

Awesome day on the water. Our guide Grayson was a wealth of knowledge and quite humorous. You could tell he really loved his job and wanted our group to have a great time.... and we did! They had everything covered from rain jackets and pants to keep you warm and dry, float bags for your belongings to snacks and drinks at the end of your trip. Perfect!

This tour was absolutely amazing! We had a very small group (only 2 kayaks), the tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, the scenery was spectacular. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Ketchikan. We stopped in Ketchikan for the day as part of our Alaskan cruise.

This was a wonderful experience! Guides were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful (we ended up needing a tow). Being on the water was a delight. We got up close and personal with a couple of bald eagles. Truly a treat!

Jul 2019 - Connie L.

We had a fabulous time on our sea kayak tour! Lou was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the area. We saw lots of bald eagles, seals and a sea star. Our family has very little kayaking experience but we felt extremely safe and really enjoyed our time on the water. The weather was beautiful and the scenery was breathtaking!

Jul 2019 - Thomas M.

Was an awesome experience. The guides were very knowledgeable and obviously enjoy what they do. There were 12 total in the group and I loved that we were split up so six went with a guide. Our guide Grayson was terrific and very patient with our questions. Would highly recommend this tour and company!

Jul 2019 - Fred W.

This was a great experience. We had Karl guide our small group of three Kayaks. Karl was so knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife. He took time to show us different things and let us know about the eco system. While we did not see any whales or sea lions. Karl brought us some starfish and jellys to hold and see. We even ate some fresh seaweed and learned about its growth and importance to the area's eco system. We did see numerous Eagles, fish, and other birds. The kayaks were in great shape and easy to maneuver. We went at a pace that was comfortable for everyone in the group. Our group had two couples and a mom and daughter. I would recommend this trip for families. We had a great snack of local smoked salmon, cheeses, and crackers. This is a great way to experience Ketchikan and the local area. I would and have recommended this excursion to anyone who wants a great off the tourist area trip.

Jul 2019 - Kevin N.

This was an outstanding excursion. We had a group of six (3 kayaks) and our guide Colin was exceptional. He provided knowledgeable commentary and added insights. Excellent chance to interact with the environment, see wildlife (sea star, harbor seal, Stellar sea lion, deer, eagles). Most enjoyable outing.

Jul 2019 - Karen J S.

The excursion was wonderful. The small group was led by an experienced guide who pointed out seals, eagles and many natural wonders along the way. Would go again if the opportunity was presented.

Jun 2019 - Russell S.

Great kayaking, beautiful area, guide was great, plenty of eagles starfish on the coast. No whales that day

Jun 2019 - John M.

The bald eagles stole the show on this excursion, we witnessed them fishing right off the dock! Emma was a great guide she had vast knowledge of Alaskan history and was knowledgeable about all the nature around us. I highly recommend this excursion.

May 2019 - Jay B.

This tour was great. Our tour guide Carl was amazing and really took the time to talk about the local ecosystem and show us some beautiful marine life. We even tried some fresh out of the water kelp. We were able to see some beautiful bald eagles and seals very near our kayaks. It was a beautiful day and very memorable experience. I would recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a little adventure during your trip to Alaska.
