This small group 4-hour private photography tour begins with greeting your guide at the end of the cruise ship dock. Enjoy the views on your way to the stunning Chilka Valley, cradled at the base of the Chilkat Peninsula, surrounded by the Lynn Fjord and Chilkat River.
Upon arrival in the valley, choose your spot to set up your camera for the best photo opportunities. This tour is very flexible and doesn't have a set schedule. You and your expert photographer guide can work together to decide the locations, objects, or views that you'd like to focus on. You don't have to feel rushed at all - there will be plenty of time to set up your camera. If you need any suggestions, Your experienced guide can point out great photo spots based on the lighting, the weather, and the time of the day.
Wildflowers and eagles are the highlights of May, June, and July. Beginning in August, pink salmon, the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon varieties, begin their run up the Chilkoot River to spawn. This time of the season is the best opportunity to see brown bears as they are often witnessed feeding along the banks of the river. When bears are present, every effort will be made to give you safe bear viewing and photography.
Please note: Minimum of 2 passengers is required to book. The maximum number of passengers per departure is 14. Please bring your own photo camera, phone, any device to take photos with, and all photo gear.
Please note: Sightings of brown bear are not likely before the salmon start running in August. This tour goes through prime wildlife habitats, however, wildlife sightings including brown bear are not guaranteed. Duration: 4 hours (Roundtrip from cruise ship terminal)
