Juneau Sky to Sea Bike Adventure on Douglas Island

Excursion Overview

A Scenic Bike Journey From Mountain Peaks to Ocean Views

Follow a winding road from alpine heights to coastal shoreline, tracing a 10 mile descent through some of the most varied and quiet landscapes on Douglas Island. The journey begins high above Juneau near Eaglecrest Ski Area, where riders take in sweeping views before setting off into the stillness of the Tongass National Rainforest. From the first pedal strokes, the city feels distant as muskeg wetlands, dense evergreens, and mountain air set the tone for a ride defined by nature and discovery.

As the route gently carries riders downhill toward the sea, the landscape shifts from towering forests to flowing streams and coastal viewpoints. Stops along the way invite moments of pause at Fish Creek, where salmon return seasonally to spawn. The adventure concludes at False Outer Point, where the forest opens to the ocean and wide coastal views reward the final stretch of the ride. With each transition from sky to sea, guests experience a quieter, more intimate side of Juneau shaped by wilderness, movement, and time slowing down.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.
