Seward Tonsina Point Kayak & Exit Glacier Hike Combo

Excursion Overview

Experience Tonsina Point and Exit Glacier with this Combo Tour

This small group tour is ideal for first-time paddlers, families, or groups eager to explore the beauty of Resurrection Bay and hike the Exit Glacier Overlook Loop Trail in Kenai Fjords National Park!

This scenic kayak tour begins at Lowell Point at the southern end of Seward, following the stunning western coastline of Resurrection Bay to Tonsina Creek. As paddlers navigate, keep an eye out for sea ducks, diving birds, eagles, porpoises, harbor seals, and sea lions. Depending on the timing of the salmon run, it’s possible to witness salmon making their way upstream at Tonsina Creek! After stretching your legs and exploring the ghost tree forest, guests can skip rocks and enjoy the pristine surroundings at Tonsina Point. After a beach break for snacks and hydration, the journey back along the coastline to Lowell Point begins.

Upon returning to Lowell Point Beach, guests will head back to the local office to prepare for the Exit Glacier hike. At the office, trekking poles are provided before transportation to Kenai Fjords National Park. This 2.2-mile hike takes 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, depending on the group’s pace, and includes informative commentary about the glacial area and historical photos showing the glacier’s past positions. The trail leads to the lower glacier overlook and a visit to the Exit Glacier Nature Center, where park cards can be stamped. After the hike, transportation back to local accommodations is provided.
