White Pass Train and Bicycle Tour

The Skagway White Pass train and bicycle tour begins by boarding the historic White Pass & Yukon Route narrow-gauge railroad for a scenic hour and a half trip through the coastal mountains to British Columbia, Canada. There you meet your professional guides, versed in the ecology and history of the area, who take you for a short van ride along the scenic Klondike Highway to the summit of the White Pass.

After a bicycle and safety orientation, it is fifteen scenic miles downhill from the summit to the sea! Celeb was our tour guide. He took great care of us and made sure we were safe and comfortable during the entire ride. The downhill ride was thrilling and exciting. My family and I had lots of fun doing this tour.

I didn't realize when we booked how many people would be riding down at a time. The group was so large that you really just had to ride your break the entire time. Lost a bit of the trill of a downhill ride.

Great train ride but the windows need to have the ability to be opened for air and better pictures. FANTASTIC BIKE RIDE. Need the option to go on this ride and be in a group that rides as fast as possible down the path.

great excursion although bike ride was scary in the wet and fog. The guides were brilliant though and made us feel very safe

We wanted a tour that got us off the tour bus and let us experience the real Alaskan air. World class views and all down hill and flat except 100m. Great service from all and personal thanks to Melissa and Taylor for looking after us. Cruisers book direct couldnt be easier and much better value for money. -Mel and Shaun, Dover, UK

Train ride was beautiful. Would be nice if crew mentioned that the left side of the train is the better side. Bike ride was beautiful!!!! Safety was #1. Stopped for a lot of great pictures.

Awesome train ride and biking down the summit. It was cold and rainy coming down on bikes but the guides were well prepared with goggles and waterproof gear. My husband and I think this was our most favorite part of our Alaska trip.

Taking the Train is kind of a Must to do whilst in Skagway. The people running this Bicycle Tour were very nice & helpful. The Bicycle ride however is really 16km of down hill cycling where you are braking more than you are cycling so it's easy enough to do for those of you thinking it may be to strenuous, its NOT

We enjoyed the excursion overall. The trip was just as described, and we had lovely weather. The staff is friendly, and our specific guides were fantastic. One star off because I wish that we had been able to take the bike ride at a little less hectic pace. I was so focused on following the biking protocol (keeping a set distance from the cyclist in front of me, staying to the far right, both hands on the handlebars, breaking with front and back brakes, watching the leader for signals, and staying aware of passing vehicles) that I really didn't enjoy the scenery or experience as I had hoped. I know that the business needs to stick to a fairly rigid schedule in order to accommodate the next group of riders, and there really is no way to avoid the passing traffic. So, all in all, I would recommend this tour. Just don't expect a relaxing ride at your own pace.

Outstanding

Our Excursion had beautiful weather, so the tour was lovely. The biking portion was very fast. I would have preferred a more leisurely ride. The White Pass Railway is a "must do in Alaska." If you want a little exercise, Choose the train ride/van and hike one of the many hikes surrounding Skagway.

Our BEST excursion of our Alaskan cruise. The view from the train was stunning, w/ informative commentary given. The bike trip was AWESOME!!! So exhilarating and such beautiful scenery - the guides were very helpful, safety was a priority, and made the trip super-enjoyable!

Train ride was beautiful and the bike ride was not difficult - mainly all downhill except for one small hill. The guides were patient, laid back and made everyone comfortable.

Best tour! The train was amazing and the cycle back down the hill was great, our guide was very friendly too. We all loved this one!

We had the most amazing time on our train and bike tour! We'd never been on a train before and really enjoyed getting to see the Alaskan wilderness from that vantage point, but our absolute favorite part was getting to cruise down the mountain, wind in our face, stopping occasionally to see the sights on bike. our guides Peter, Wesley & Mike were all extremely knowledgeable, fun, gracious and passionate about the area which made our experience that much more enjoyable! We couldn't recommend it more!

May 2017 - Lucinda S.

AWESOME!!!! The train ride was spectacular and so interesting. When we arrived in Frazier, the bike guides were so helpful and great in providing everything we needed. They even took wonderful pictures of the two of us.
