Excursion Overview

A perfect opportunity to feel part of the great Alaskan outdoors!

Escape the bustle of Skagway with a relaxing journey to Dyea, a former Gold Rush settlement now part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Enjoy a scenic 10-mile drive along the coast to Dyea Valley, where you may spot harbor seals and bald eagles, and see the start of the historic Chilkoot Trail. Then, drift down the peaceful Taiya River, surrounded by stunning mountain views. Your guide will share local history and wildlife sightings, including bald eagles and the occasional bear. After the float, enjoy a riverside snack while soaking in the serenity of the landscape.

This scenic river float is suitable for most ages and skill levels, with all necessary gear provided. The tour lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours, with 35-45 minutes spent on the river. With 10-11 people per raft, this small group excursion offers a more intimate experience. Please note that groups over 11 will split into two rafts. A stop at the Skagway scenic overlook, time permitting, offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains.

We had a beautiful float - the weather was misty and chilly and certainly not controllable, we did not see any wildlife which is also not controllable, but I could have floated all day. Our guide is native Skagwian? had infinite wisdom of the area and shared freely. He responded to our questions accurately and honestly. The "crew" were awesome as well, making lunch suggestions, area recommendations, and providing fast and courteous service for our float departure and return. I'm only assuming the rest of your team is just as amazing and will recommend your company to future Alaska visitors. Thank you for a beautiful morning!

It was a little boring. Shaggy, Dominic, did entertain and educate us but no animals and no adventure.

Very relaxing float. We would have seen more wildlife if we would have waited to go in the middle of July when the salmon were running.
