Skagway Private Emerald Lake & Musher's Camp Tour

Excursion Overview

Explore Emerald Lake and Meet Yukon’s Champion Sled Dogs

This scenic Yukon adventure pairs a fully guided van journey along the iconic Klondike Highway with a visit to stunning Emerald Lake and an authentic sled dog experience at Tutshi Sled Dog Mushing Camp. Guests travel through dramatic mountain landscapes, alpine valleys, and historic Gold Rush country before arriving at the kennel operated by acclaimed Yukon musher Michelle Phillips of Tagish Lake Kennel. A consistent top finisher in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race — including an impressive 4th place finish in 2025 — Michelle shares stories from the trail and offers insight into the year-round training and care that keep her team race-ready. While the van portion of the tour is private and flexible, guests may join other visitors during the kennel experience.

At the dog camp, meet the friendly sled dogs, cuddle playful puppies (when available), and learn what it takes to compete in world-class races. For those wanting even more adventure, an optional 1.3-mile summer dog cart ride through the wilderness is available for purchase on-site. Morning tour departures are offered, with the option to extend your day to include gold panning or a visit to the Yukon Suspension Bridge. If visiting Emerald Lake is a top priority, simply let your guide know so timing can be tailored to your experience.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.
