Embark on a scenic journey along the historic path once traveled by the 1898 Gold Seekers, as you travel from Skagway to the Yukon in the comfort of a private vehicle with your expert local guide. Along the 70-mile stretch of the Klondike Highway, you'll be immersed in stunning landscapes, including rushing rivers, alpine mountains, glaciers, sparkling lakes, and vibrant forests. Your guide will share both historical tales and modern-day stories of the region, and you’ll often spot local wildlife, such as bears, moose, caribou, goats, and sheep. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos with multiple stops throughout the route.

Midway, you'll pause to snap a group photo at the iconic Welcome to Alaska sign before stopping in Carcross to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or opting for a relaxing picnic. Please note that lunch is not included in the ticket price. The journey continues to the breathtaking Emerald Lake, known as the most photographed lake in the Yukon, where you'll have time to explore. You’ll also have the option to customize your adventure with a selection of scenic stops, you'll have time to discuss your options on the day of your tour.

Requirements:

  • Passports are required for ALL participants Children under the age of 18 may use a birth certificate instead of a passport
  • Group size must be between 3 - 11 participants
  • Dress in comfortable layers

Duration: 7 hours (Sample Itinerary - Roundtrip from cruise ship terminal)

  • 2 hours - head North, through Skagway. Cruise over White Pass, passing and/or stopping at various scenic viewpoints.
  • 2 hours - go through Canadian Customs; be prepared with your PASSPORTS handy! Continuing north, scan for wildlife and pass by or stop at these scenic points for photos!
  • 1 hour - stop in Carcross for lunch (not included in price). Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants in town, or ask us about special food/picnic options!
  • 2 hours - head south on the same highway, enjoying a completely different view as you head back toward the Skagway cruise ship terminal

  • This tour meets at the end of the pier. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

Yes, if you'd like to stop for lunch in Carcross, you will certainly have time to do so. Please note that lunch is not included in the price of this tour.

Yes, you may bring your own food and non alcoholic beverages. You can also order ahead of time from Glacial Coffeehouse in Skagway to enjoy a picnic lunch during your tour. Enjoy the ease of a prepared basket to enjoy at a picnic table in Carcross, or head out on an adventure and eat in a wilderness location. Please note that the picnic lunch is not included in your ticket price.

Yes, our tour provider will provide car seats for your children.

Wildlife is abundant in southeast Alaska however, this is not a designated wildlife tour and we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings.
