Excursion Overview

Adorable puppies and gold panning adventure await!

Your musher's camp and gold panning adventure start with a narrated scenic transportation from your dock. Your entertaining tour guide will drive you through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our entertaining musher's camp located in Dyea. Gather in the "Musher Talk" area and listen to our mushers sharing fascinating information about the extreme Alaskan state sport, dog sledding. You are more than welcome to ask any additional questions you may have. Don't worry though, we'll make sure you have plenty of time to play with our adorable puppies as your affections help to socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success.

Now it's time to take a chance to pan for real Alaskan gold! Once your guide shows you the art of gold panning, you can test your luck to see what you can find while learning about the history of the gold rush that took off from the area. After gold panning, you can take a short self-guided nature hike next to a beautiful waterfall and dense Alaskan forest or browse the gift shop and relax in our saloon with a deck overlooking the picturesque stream. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting! This is a tour full of Alaskan adventure, history, and awe-inspiring wilderness.

Our tour guide Colin was so wonderful and knowledgeable! He told us all about Alaska and about his life there. We wished we had spent more time with the puppies because they were so cute! But the people the scenery of the camp alone was worth the trip, just incredible!

It was... only ok. The musher camp experience felt rushed and the puppy time was odd. We expected to play with the dogs, holding them was ok but they didn't seem to enjoy it. We had to ask questions rather than being given a tour guide type experience with information provided.
