Skagway Laughton Glacier Expedition

Excursion Overview

Unveil the Wonders of Skagway

You'll embark on a 45-minute train journey along the White Pass scenic railway, filled with magnificent waterfalls, rushing rivers, rugged mountain peaks, and enriched by the history of the Klondike Gold Rush. Upon reaching Glacier Station, you'll commence a fully guided round-trip hike of up to eight miles enjoying the crisp mountain air.

Your hike commences on a well-kept trail winding through the enchanting landscape of a beautiful rainforest valley, inhabited by a variety of wildlife including moose, bears, and mountain goats.

Traversing alongside the lively Skagway River, you'll capture memorable moments with picturesque photo opportunities before veering into the valley where the majestic Laughton Glacier is located. You will take a break at the lookout and enjoy the panoramic views spanning 360 degrees gifted by nature.

Continuing towards the glacier, the terrain gradually becomes more rugged yet manageable to hike. As you approach the glacier, the landscape transforms dramatically, transitioning from rocky riverbeds to navigating through boulder fields onto the glacier.

You'll be captivated by the awe-inspiring sights from exposed crevasses to moulins, experiencing the ever-changing features of the glacier amidst the harsh Alaskan environment. Your guides will offer hot drinks as you are perched on the glacier. Upon returning to the trailhead, you will be greeted with our traditional “Bush Buffet”, complete with cold beverages.

Relax and relish the journey back to town aboard "The Scenic Railway of the World." With a guide-to-guest ratio of no more than six guests, you'll receive exceptional customer service.

Please note: During May and early June, glacier travel may be limited or unavailable due to snow on the glacier.
