Excursion Overview

In search of Orcas in early summer

In the nutrient-rich waters outside of Seward, orcas are well known to frequent the area from mid-spring to early summer.

On this 4-hour expedition for orcas, your experienced captain will be communicating with many other vessels to pinpoint the location of the closest orca sightings, giving you the best chance of seeing a pod up close! This cruise does not have a planned route, so each time will be unique to you.

As you make your way to the location your naturalist guides will let you know everything there is about orcas, humpback whales, gray whales, and the other local flora and fauna.

If that's not close enough, through the onboard hydrophone, you could hear the calls and communication of the whales in real-time!

Please note: This tour only operates from May to June. While wildlife is abundant, it is not guaranteed.

Really cool trip! We saw Orcas and humpback whales as well as other wildlife. The ship was very nice and we enjoyed the outside viewing decks and the indoor cabin space.

It was wonderful! We saw lots of orcas. Also humpback whales, sea lions, and seals. The boat was comfortable. We all had assigned seating at tables. All tables had window views. Or you could leave your stuff at the table and go outside for even better views. I would highly recommend the Seward Orca Quest cruise.
