Excursion Overview

Seward Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier and Wildlife Cruise

This Kenai Fjords National Park glacier wildlife cruise will travel through the protected waters of Resurrection Bay and continue around Cape Aialik into Aialik Bay to view Holgate Glacier, an actively calving tidewater glacier. We will spend time in front of the glacier to watch for calving, where giant chunks of glacial ice break off and crash into the water. Our experienced captain will fully narrate your journey and will point out the spectacular sights while providing information on the area's wildlife, history, and geology.

While in the protected waters of Aialik Bay we will begin providing complimentary deli lunch. This hearty deli lunch will keep you fueled for your full day of adventure on the water. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are provided. Snacks, beverages, and full bar drinks are available for purchase during the cruise.

Depending on the time of year, we will explore the Chiswell Islands (part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge) or Cape Resurrection, home to thousands of nesting seabirds including puffins, kittiwakes, and cormorants. The captain will stop the boat close to the seabird nesting areas, providing great photo opportunities. We will also visit Steller sea lion colonies, where Steller sea lions gather on the rugged, rocky coastline. Sea otters, bald eagles, and mountain goats are also commonly seen along the route.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

We really enjoyed this tour eventhough tbe weather wasn't that great. One word of caution take something for sea sickness. The captain warned people about this and many folks didnt listen. That wasn't fun but it still didnt detract from the experience. Tbe crew and captain (we were on the skana) did a fantastic job pointing out wildlife. We saw seals, otters, puffin, sea lions, cormorants, orcas, humpback and even a bear. I advise mem not to wear a baseball cap and definitely dress in layers. It was cold, rainy and very windy outside. The boat itself was super comfortable inside and the restrooms were very clean. The sandwiches were surprisingly very good unfortunately some people lost it so after. The captain and the crew were great especially Jake who was very, helpful during the turmoil.

The all female crew on the vessel were fantastic. They took really good care of those that got seasick (I get seasick but took bonine and was fine). Saw so many critters (otters, seals, whales, jelly fish). The glacier was cool too. Highly recommend!

Great Excursion, The Captain did an awesome job, she knew where to sail for us to see Sea Otters, Sea Lions, Whales & Puffins. Extras, also saw a tidewater glacier up close & even a Bald Eagle joined in the fun. Boat was excellent, crew was excellent and the included lunch tasty. Five Stars! We would do it again.
