Take to the Alaskan skies and glaciers on this Seward helicopter adventure with six-time Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey’s dog team. Flightsee over Kenai Fjords National Park and Resurrection Bay, spotting glaciers, rugged mountains, and wildlife along the way. Land on a snow-covered glacier to try your hand at mushing a dog sled, or ride in comfort while learning about the dogs and mushers at 3,200 ft elevation.

The adventure continues with a second landing beside a bright blue iceberg-filled lagoon or calving glacier, perfect for photos. With professional mushers, overboots, and convenient Seward pickup, this Seward excursion is sure to deliver an unforgettable combination of Alaska flightseeing and glacier dog sledding.

This tour is typically available from May through August. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

Things You Need to Know

Inclusions:

  • One-hour dogsled adventure on real snow (mushing and kennel visit)
  • Second landing
  • Flightseeing
  • Small group size, very personal dogsled tour
  • Traction overboots to keep your feet dry & warm
  • Waterproof clothing if needed

Requirements:

  • Signed liability waiver (You can sign this on-site during the safety briefing)
  • Appropriate clothing per weather (Layered clothing with wind & waterproof outer layer, sturdy walking shoes, light hat and gloves, sunglasses)
  • Passenger names and weights are required by the FAA for passenger safety and comfort, as well as weight and balance calculations for flight manifesting. Any passenger whose weight is 250 pounds (113 kilograms) or more fully clothed at the time of departure will have a surcharge fee added to the ticket price at the time of booking.
  • Photo I.D. is required for all Adult guests traveling, please have your I.D. with you for check-in.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours (Courtesy shuttle provided from Seward city area)

  • 30 minutes - round trip helicopter flightseeing
  • 30 minutes - interaction with Mushers and Dogsled dogs
  • 30 minutes - glacier dogsledding
  • 30 minutes - additional glacier, beach or alpine landing based on local conditions

Meeting Instructions:

  • This tour provides pick up from local accommodations and the cruise ship terminal in Seward (guests will be picked up 45 minutes in advance of selected tour time). Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

  • This tour is limited mobility and wheelchair accessible. The local team accommodates all mobility challenged scenarios. They have staff that will assist in getting in and out of the helicopter as well as in and out of the dogsled. Please note, the shuttle van is not wheelchair accessible at this time. Leave a comment during checkout if accommodations for collapsible equipment will be required on tour.

There are no age restrictions for this tour.

Wildlife is abundant in Alaska and sightings are possible on any tour. Typically we see moose, dall sheep, mountain goats and sometimes bears depending on the time of year. However, this is not a designated wildlife tour and nothing can be guaranteed.

Yes, the dogs love human interaction and the mushers will let you get close and snuggly with their team.

The average temperature is between 15-20°F cooler than on the ground.

We recommend wearing layers, a weatherproof outer coat, sturdy shoes (we will provide overboots to keep your shoes dry) and sunglasses as it gets blindingly bright on the snow-covered glacier.

Food and drink are not allowed during this tour.

Lockers and restrooms are available for guests at the Seward Airport area.

The pilot balances the helicopter based on the weight and number of passengers. We cannot make any promises for specific seat because safety cannot be compromised. If you have a preference ask the pilot and when it is safe the pilot will try to accommodate you.
