Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 participants is required to book this experience
  • Per FAA guidelines, infants younger than 24 months old can fly on a parent’s lap; children aged 2 years and older must have their own seat purchased for them.
  • R44 helicopters are flown on this tour, each seating up to three guests, with a weight limit of 300 pounds per seat and 600 pounds per helicopter. To ensure safe weight and balance, groups may be seated in multiple helicopters that will fly and land together during the tour.
  • Passenger weights will be discreetly verified at check-in. Under-reporting of weights may result in an additional charge or rescheduling of the tour. Please ensure the correct passenger type is selected during checkout.

Duration: 1 hour (roundtrip from cruise ship dock)

  • 10 minutes - transportation to the helicopter base from the main cruise ship terminal (check in 15 minutes prior)
  • 15 minutes - safety briefing
  • 30 minutes - glacier flightseeing via helicopter
  • 10 minutes - return transportation to the main cruise ship terminal

Meeting Instructions:

  • This tour meets directly at your cruise ship dock. Pickup will be in a clearly marked shuttle van at either the Small Boat Harbor or the Kelsey Dock Ferry Terminal. Please specify your cruise ship at booking. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

  • This tour is limited mobility accessible. Guests must be able to board the helicopter with minimal assistance. There is limited space for manual, non-motorized, foldable wheelchairs and walkers in the transit vehicle. Please leave a comment during checkout if accommodations for collapsible equipment will be required on tour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Temperatures on the glacier landings are typically 10–15 degrees cooler than at the base. Since the glaciers are in a high-alpine environment, guests are advised to come prepared for changing or inclement weather.

Wildlife is abundant in Alaska, and sightings are possible on any tour. However, this is not a designated wildlife tour, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Guests may have the opportunity to see moose, black and brown bears, Dall sheep, and mountain goats during the tour.

The local team operates R44 helicopters, each of which can accommodate up to three guests.

There are two front seats and two rear seats; FAA safety guidelines require seating positions to be assigned based on weight and balance of all passengers for each helicopter.

If the tour provider determines that the weather is unsafe to fly, they will first contact you at the phone number you provided at checkout. If your tour is canceled due to poor weather, your tour will be refunded in full. Refunds are typically issued within 24 hours of the cancellation.

Guests should dress in 2–3 layers: a base layer, a warmth layer, and a wind- or waterproof outer layer. Closed-toed shoes, hats, gloves, and sunglasses are recommended. Snow pants and snow boots are not advised.

Infants under 24 months can fly on a parent’s lap, following FAA guidelines. Children 2 years and older will need their own purchased seat.

All bags must be stored at the helicopter base and are not allowed on tour. If you have a medically necessary bag or apparatus, such as an oxygen condenser, Ambi-pen, or re-breather, you can absolutely take it with you, but all other bags brought to our base must be stored in our storage bins at the base.

There are restroom facilities at the helicopter base before and after your flight.

Seating assignments cannot be guaranteed in advance. Passenger weight and balance are calculated during check-in, and seats are assigned at that time.
