Train from Seward to Anchorage via Coastal Classic Train

Note: for a round trip, add the Anchorage to Seward train or view all of our Alaska Railroad routes.

After a brief stop in Girdwood, we'll wind our way along Turnagain Arm, where the steep mountains of the Chugach Range plunge directly to the sea before reaching our final destination of Anchorage.

Excelente servicio. Pudimos ver osos, alces, aguilas y los paisajes super bellos. Ademas vimos a lo lejos glaciares. Fue una experiencia maravillosa.

This was spectacular! Beautiful views, Delicious food and drinks!

Aug 2019 - Michael G.

It was a bit bumpy and the door between the cars was a problem, we also were seated by the bathrooms which when the doors were left open were chemical smelling. plus you have to pay for Uber or Taxi to get to the airport or anywhere you need to go once you disembark from the train. Which is an added expense.

Jun 2019 - Michael Y.

Great Experience! So nice we disembarked from our cruise ship found our luggage in the port terminal. Rolled them outside and they were placed in a free shuttle, rode to the Train Depot. Our luggage was placed in a secure location and the next time we saw it was at the Train Depot in Anchorage! Great tour guides and service on the train. We saw three glaciers!

Aug 2018 - Khalid H.

Most picturesque train ride I have ever undertaken. I was able to see three Mooses, a low level (train window level) Raptor, a live Raptor nest, Icebergs in a lake and world's longest single span wooden Railway Bridge. Highly recommended for all Alaska tourists.

Aug 2018 - Robert M.

Great scenery. Loved the narators who accentuated the views with information and things to look for along the way. Liked that you could move about the train to the snack bar car and to upper view cars. Make sure to get up from your seat to check it out.

Aug 2018 - Josh T.

Spectacular scenery and attentive service. Definitely pay extra to upgrade so you can ride in the viewing cars. This is a must-do for anyone visiting Alaska.

Jul 2018 - Stephanne P.

The train ride was beautiful - however, if you have gold star seating, and your group is smaller or larger than 4 - you will dine with other people, we did not know that and there were 5 of us. The food was OK but the views were spectacular. Local HS students where tour guides and could answered plenty of questions about the passage. A lovely way to travel from Seward to Anchorage!

Jun 2018 - Betty Ann G.

What a great experience it was riding on the train. Food was good and timely. Would do it again.

Jul 2017 - Emily U.

Our Excursion had beautiful weather, so the tour was lovely, There are large windows on the train with amazing glacier and wildlife views on both sides. There is a really nice commentary that points out wildlife and interesting facts along the route.
