Explore one of Southeast Alaska’s most breathtaking wilderness areas on a scenic Misty Fjords National Monument cruise departing from downtown Ketchikan. Guests travel aboard an expedition vessel perfect for this experience, featuring a heated interior cabin, panoramic windows, comfortable seating, and an outdoor viewing deck. This immersive journey showcases the dramatic beauty of Misty Fjords, where sheer granite cliffs, calm emerald waters, and untouched rainforest create a truly awe inspiring landscape.

Along the way, knowledgeable local guides and expedition crew bring the region to life with engaging stories of Misty Fjords’ natural and human history. Highlights include the striking New Eddystone Rock, a towering volcanic spire, and the majestic cliffs of Rudyerd Bay rising up to 3,000 feet, forming landmarks like God’s Pocket and the Owl Cliffs. Guests may spot seals, bald eagles, and seabirds while cruising past waterfalls and bird rookeries.

This tour is typically available from May through September. Our excursions were designed for cruise ship passengers but are available to everyone.

Duration: Approximately 5.25 hours (Roundtrip from the Downtown Ketchikan.)

  • Tour sequence may vary based on conditions and wildlife activity
  • 5.25 hours - boat ride through Misty Fjords. The cruise out to the Misty Fjords National Monument is approximately two-hours of travel each way, this allows extended opportunities for wildlife viewing and scenic cruising. Points of interest include New Eddystone Rock and the breathtaking Rudyerd Bay.

Meeting Instructions:

  • This tour meets in front of the Christmas in Alaska store, which is a short walk from the cruise ship terminals. If your ship docks at Ward Cove, you must take a complimentary shuttle go downtown Ketchikan. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

  • This tour is limited mobility accessible. Guests must be able to climb 4 steps into and out of the boat. There is limited space for collapsible walkers and wheelchairs and there is no space to store scooters. Mobility devices must have a maximum length of 48-inches, a maximum width of 32-inches, and minimum ground clearance of 3.5 inches. The combined weight of a guest and mobility device cannot exceed 500 pounds. If you have ADA needs or questions, please contact our customer service team for detailed accessibility information. There are no age restrictions for this tour. However, guest's of all ages require a ticket due to coast guard regulations.

We recommend wearing clothes that can be layered. A lightweight shirt, sweater, and jacket will allow you to adapt to varying temperatures.

You will have a guide who is knowledgeable about the wildlife that inhabits the area. Wildlife is abundant in Southeast Alaska and sightings are possible on any tour, however we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings.
