Title was a little misleading. I was under the impression this was an actual guided tour at the visitors center area. Driver, was prompt to pick us up at the pick up spot. After dropping us off at the visitors center, we were informed we would be picked up in an hour to be taken to the salmon bake. Not a ton of time to hike/explore. Had enough time to walk down to the beach area, but was still another 10 minutes to walk to the foot of Nugget Falls, so we didn't have time to get there before we were to be picked up. Driver dropped us off at the salmon bake, where we were the first ones there. Food was very good and filling. Obviously, weather was not under control of the company, so there can't be any fault for that, and the salmon bake had all the seating area covered and heated to accommodate. Decided to return to the glacier on our own a few days later to have more time to explore and hike all the way to Nugget Falls.

My party of 8 enjoyed the glacier tour and salmon bake. A fair price for what was offered and the food was great with lots of options. We would have enjoyed a bit more time at the glacier (we had about 1 hour).

Sep 2019 - Suk Han C.

Good driver/guide, just the first round of gathering at the spot so confusing!

Sep 2019 - Diane V.

The four of us thought this was a wonderful experience.

Sep 2019 - Irene Y.

Excellent tour! The Salmon bake was delicious and fun! Our timing was a bit tight but the people at the Salmon bake took the group of us directly back to our ship! Our kids enjoyed it very much!

Sep 2019 - Gary Q.

Glacier was mind blowing in beauty. Wish we would've gotten to the salmon bake sooner, though.

Aug 2019 - Susan C.

Beautiful location and great good even though it was raining!

Aug 2019 - PALMER W.

This was the best. Loved our bus driver (wish I could remember his name - I remember he was a veteran) who gave so much information of the area and life in Juneau. And, oh my gosh, the Salmon Bake! It was so very awesome. The food was unbelievable. And the soup! Wish I had that recipe! The salmon was over the top good - and to top it off you can grab some marshmallows, go back to the campfire - and roast your own marshmallows. Loved Juneau better than Skagway. Absolutely perfect day. Best memory of our trip.

Jul 2019 - Barbara D.

The salmon bake was to die for. It was a thrill walking close to the Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls.

Jul 2019 - Cindy B.

We loved this excursion while we were in Juneau. We hiked to the falls and that was beautiful. I wish I could remember our tour guides name but we really enjoyed his silly jokes and great knowledge. Also enjoyed the photo opp stop for some more beautiful pictures. The salmon bake was sooo good and the best we had in Alaska.

Jul 2019 - Kathryn W.

Jun 2019 - Kathryn O.

Great tour to the glacier and delicious Salmon Bake. Nice ambience at the bake, beautiful Alaska String Band music, plenty of food! Would definitely recommend both. Wish we had more time at the glacier.

Jun 2019 - David M.

The Mendenhall Glacier was an experience we will never forget. Breathtaking scenery that God has blessed us with. The salmon bake was okay but not anywhere near what I expected.

Jun 2019 - Guiping X.

The Glacier & Salmon Bake Tour was enjoyable.

Jun 2019 - Keri Ann A.

Our tour was combined with another tour company's glacier tour since both tour groups were so small that combined we didn't fill half the bus. The other company's tour was just for the glacier, so we ended up going over time seeing other parts of the city. As others mentioned, time at the glacier was brief -- just an hour, which limited time to explore. We got to the salmon bake close to when the combined glacier/salmon bake tour was supposed to end, which was frustrating because we had other things planned. The salmon bake was awful. The salmon was totally over done and dry, and the sides were unappetizing and limited (mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, cornbread, cole slaw and beets that had all been sitting for some time) -- the cruise ship food was infinitely better -- fresher and prepared as it should be. We also had to wait for a different bus to take us back to town. Very disappointing. Definitely skip the salmon bake, and also be prepared that the tour may go later than anticipated.

We really enjoyed the glacier tour but I misunderstood about the Salmon Bake Tour. I was not interested in eating the salmon but thought that we would get to see where the salmon came in for migration. It was my fault for not reading carefully...

Jun 2019 - MaryAnn M.

We so enjoyed not only walking around the glacier and the amazing scenery, but the Salmon Bake at the end of the tour was so authentic Alaskan! The food was great, the atmosphere was great and so was the music!

Jun 2019 - Sally L.

We had a great time. It was a good choice for our 15 member family group with a wide age range. We were disappointed that the stop at the Mendenhall glacier was so short! We barely had time to walk to the glacier, take a couple of quick pictures, walk back to the bus. We didnt even have 10 minutes to look at the museum!. We loved the salmon bake. The atmosphere was beautiful, the walk to the falls lovely, and the kids had fun roasting marshmallows after dinner. The salmon was delicious . However there was lots of time and an additional 45 minutes at the glacier would have still left lots of time for dinner!

Sep 2018 - Ka Pui C.

Great experience. Sufficient time for both activities. Driver was talkative with interesting information.

Sep 2018 - Lori P.

The tour of the Glacier was very nice, but we wish we had more time there. They give you about an hour which was just enough time to walk to the waterfall and back. We did not have time to see the information center or where the salmon swim. The salmon bake was awful. There was nothing pleasant about this experience. The food was mediocre, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. We rushed to eat and leave and realized that we would have enjoyed a meal back on our ship more. We wish we did because we got food poisoning from the salmon bake. The next 24 hours was awful for us and it sadly affected our trip. The company offered us a small refund when we requested a full refund. Skip the Salmon bake and just go to the Glacier for a longer amount of time.

Sep 2018 - Jeff F.

Seeing the Mendenhall Glacier is a must. But one of our favorite tours of our whole vacation was the Salmon Bake. In fact, my husband declared it his favorite meal of the trip! The food was delicious--not just good--delicious! And the setting was perfect. We walked up to the waterfall after dinner and enjoyed seeing that along with some of the old mining equipment that lines the road. Excellent service and everything was as promised. I will recommend you to anyone going to Alaska.

Sep 2018 - Sally G.

The Juneau Mendenhall Glacier & Salmon Bake Tour was a very big disappointment, especially the salmon bake tour! We had a very small piece of salmon, cole slaw that was dry, a few other vegetables, and a very dry looking piece of cake for dessert. The glacier was pretty but we only saw a wedge of it. The movie at the visitors center was good.

Sep 2018 - Gloria F.

Wonderful time checking out the Mendenhall Glacier, walking the trails to the falls and touring the interpretive center. The Salmon bake was delicious and well set up for ease and enjoyment with a delightful musician to entertain us as we ate. The tour bus driver shared local information and made the trip enjoyable.as well.

Aug 2018 - Christine J.

Our group of 9 had a wonderful time on our excursion to Mendenhall glacier and the salmon bake tour. Our guide provided information throughout the drive and went out of her way to bring one of our members a purchase that had been left behind on the bus! It was a great experience with a quality staff.

Aug 2018 - Steven B.

This was a great excursion with the transfer meeting us before scheduled time allowing extra time at the glacier for hiking etc. The Salmon bake was fantastic exceeding expectations. The singer/guitar player was excellent as well.

Jul 2018 - Marvin P.

The glacier was a beautiful sight to see. So was the waterfall. The food at the Salmon bake was delicious. I really recommend this excursion.

Jul 2018 - Anne J.

Well balanced time wise between the two places. Our guide was Eric and he was delightful. We were cruising with another couple and it worked out we were the only 4 people on the tour. Eric customized the tour for just the four of us and it was great. The setting for the Salmon Bake was beautiful, almost a fairyland.

Jul 2018 - Melisas M.

All of our tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. They helped make the experience amazing!

Jul 2018 - Heather T.

Food was delicious!! Entertainment was great!

Jul 2018 - John R.

The Mendenhall GLACIER was fantastic! and the salmon bake tour was great!

Jun 2018 - BRENDA D.

We missed our scheduled time. However, the scheduler called us to arrange for us to go later on. How nice! So we were picked up by Eric, who was a great tour guide through town. He gave us suggestions on what to see at the Glacier. Oh My Goodness!! It was beautiful. Highly recommend you take the 2 mile round trip hike to the waterfall. We saw a small cub on our way. Others saw bears just walking down the main street near the parking lot. They pose no harm, just go on their way.. The salmon bake was nice as well. We didn't stay long but everyone was nice. The shuttle takes you right back to the boat. Awesome.

Great trip and the Salmon bake was terrific. Would definitely recommend to others.

Jul 2017 - Tamara J.

This excursion was awesome! The staff even went out of their way to come pick us up at our ship because we were delayed getting off the ship! Courtney was very sweet and very informative on our journey to and from the Glacier, as well as the salmon bake. We were a little hesitant to book outside our cruise line, but I'm so glad we did! No regrets at all and was a great experience! I would recommend to anyone!!!
