Guests will find the world's most scenic golf courses at Valley of the Eagles Golf Links. Located alongside the Chilkat River banks in Haines with stunning vistas of the Cathedral Peaks, Chilkat Mountains, and the Lynn Canal. Take in the ice-blue glaciers and the surrounding waterfalls from the riverfront vantage point for an amazing experience.
A catamaran, one of the fastest ferries in the country, transports guests from Skagway to Haines. Guests will enjoy their passage through North America's longest and deepest Fjord, with their guide to point out the natural history, geology, and native culture along the way.
In Haines, guests will join their narrated tour through the town as well as Fort Seward and the parade grounds. Built in 1908, Fort Seward is a national historic landmark and one of the first U.S. Army post in Alaska. The Fort is a must-see in Haines, if only for its fascinating history and architecture. Guests will then be transported from the fort to the golf course, where they will be outfitted for all equipment including clubs, pull-cart, balls, and shoes, or overboots.
Over the next 2.5 hours, guests will be able to enjoy a professionally and ecologically designed par 36, 9-hole golf course. The beautifully wild Alaskan landscape surrounds guests as they make their way through the interesting course layout. Guests may be able to spot some of the abundant wildlife such as spawning salmon, bald eagles, moose, waterfowl, mink, otters, wolves, and songbirds. The enhancement of salmon streams, maintenance of wetlands, and native vegetation are all considered in the course's eco-friendly design. Guests can find spotting scopes throughout the course to offer even more wildlife viewing opportunities.
Guests are treated to a delicious smoked salmon snack after their time golfing, before returning to Skagway via fast ferry. A wonderful experience for the whole family as kids are welcome - and guests will want to be sure to bring a camera for all the beauty!
