We hear this question a lot: What should you do in Skagway if you've already ridden the White Pass Railroad Summit Excursions & Train Tour or have more time to spend in Skagway? We asked our team to share their favorite alternatives, from getting out on the water to exploring the Yukon by van. Here's what we'd recommend if you're looking to experience a different side of Skagway.
- If you've already done the train in Skagway, consider exploring one of our wildlife tours instead. Our Skagway Chilkoot Lake Wildlife Viewing Tour to Haines offers great opportunities to spot bald eagles, harbor seals, and brown bears. - Iris
- I think the Skagway Musher's Camp and Sled Dog Adventure is a great choice, especially if you haven't had an opportunity to experience a sled dog adventure during your Alaska trip. - Denise

- The Skagway Glacier Helicopter Tour is a great option if you want to experience Alaska's glaciers up close. Landing on a glacier and getting to walk across the ice is a unique experience, especially if you aren't planning to take a glacier tour in Juneau. - Bailey
- If you enjoyed the train ride in Skagway and want to explore more of the surrounding scenery, I'd recommend a small-group van tour into the Yukon, like the Skagway Yukon Discovery Adventure or Yukon Suspension Bridge & Summit Tour. I've experienced the White Pass by both train and van, and honestly, I preferred the van tour. Traveling in a small group with a knowledgeable guide made the experience more personal, and our guide adapted the stops to our interests. We visited waterfalls, scenic overlooks, unique geological formations, and the famous Yukon Suspension Bridge. - Michelle
- The train is iconic, but there is so much more to explore in Skagway! Get out on the water and experience the Lynn Canal on the Skagway Fjord Sailing Tour with Waterfalls and Wildlife. Captain Brendan goes out of his way to make this small-group sailing adventure personal and memorable. - Lexy
