Ask Our Team: If We Could Only Book One Alaska Excursion...

You asked, we answered!  We asked our team a very important question: If you could only book one Alaska excursion, what would it be?

Here's what they had to say.

• Don - It'd have to be the Ketchikan Alaska Fishing & Wilderness Dining Tour!  It's the perfect combination of adventure, easy fishing, and a beautiful beach where you get to enjoy your fresh-caught meal.  It really blew my mind, experience-wise. 

• Bailey - The Taku Glacier Lodge Flight & Feast in Juneau.  I actually went on this excursion way before I joined the Alaska Shore Excursions team.  I was about 15 and went with my parents, and I still remember all the details to this day.  It's a wonderful experience that I'll never forget. 

• Michelle - I'd choose the one that packs as many bucket list activities as I can into a single trip.  Seeing beautiful and varied landscapes, visiting a musher's camp, meeting an Iditarod musher, being part of a smaller group, and having the chance to linger when something is especially interesting or breathtaking are all high on my list.  For me, the Skagway Step Into the Yukon with Sled Dog Tour would be my top pick.  The drive from Skagway over the mountains and into the Yukon is incredible, and you get to visit the training camp of Michelle Phillips, a top Iditarod racer. 

• Iris - If I could only pick one excursion to book during my time in Alaska, it would be the Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour.  You get some really great up-close views of the Mendenhall Glacier without having to take a helicopter.  The tour is definitely strenuous, but in my opinion, the experience is worth the effort.  By the end of the trip, I was tired, but I now have an experience I won't forget.  Canoeing to the Mendenhall Glacier and exploring the Desolation Zone was such a cool experience!

• Lexy - Only one?!  That's a tough question, but I'd have to narrow it down to the Deluxe Misty Fjords National Monument Tour.  There's a real magic to stepping into a floatplane that's about to take off from the water.  Knowing this area can only be accessed by floatplane or long boat ride makes it even more alluring.  When we landed in the fjord and stepped out of the plane, it was a memory and feeling I can't really describe.

• ​Griselda - My pick would be the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour.  I used to watch Deadliest Catch with my dad, so being on the tour was very exciting for me.  I really enjoyed the hands-on activities, like interacting with the sea creatures (starfishes, shrimps, crabs, etc.) and getting to touch the equipment and take pictures with it.  

So, there you have it!  If we were forced to choose just one Alaska excursion, these are the experiences that made the cut.

Of course, choosing just one isn't exactly easy.  Alaska is full of incredible places to explore, and the best excursion for you depends on what kind of adventure you're looking for.  Maybe it's casting a line in Ketchikan, flying over a glacier in Juneau, heading into the Yukon with sled dogs, exploring the Mendenhall Glacier, or taking a floatplane into Misty Fjords.
