We know your upcoming cruise to Alaska has been the trip you've all been waiting for! In order to enjoy your cruise healthy and safe, there are a few things you must know before you go on your vacation. We all need to take precautions to prevent ourselves and others from becoming sick and there are some of the basic things we can all do.
Wash Your Hands
This is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself from getting sick. Handwashing can not only kill the most germs that may infect you but also stop spreading them to others. Frequently washing your hands is highly recommended, especially before and after your meal, after using the bathroom, after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose, etc. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer is handy if there is no soap and water.
Stay Hydrated
This is another simple way to keep yourself from any sickness. Bringing your own reusable bottle or drinking bottled water is a good practice especially in the summertime as you'll be able to drink as soon as you feel thirsty. Although, this may not prevent you from a viral or bacterial illness, your immune system will remain in a better condition. Always remember to never share your bottle with another person because that will put you at the highest risk.
Prepare Medications
Cruise ships are also known as floating cities as the ships include almost everything you'll need for your stay. However, having your essential medicines and devices can put your mind at ease on vacation. It's a smart idea to pack the medications that you might need because there could be a limited number of pills and supplies onboard.
Don't Drink Too Much
Unlimited alcohol sounds tempting but too much drinking can affect your next day's plan. It’s important to know your limits so you can enjoy your day without getting too drunk. Consuming alcohol at a reasonable level would help you keep your immune system healthy.
Use the Stairs
Have you been eating too much food at the buffet and spoiled yourself a bit? It’s time to do some workout! It doesn't have to be joining a yoga class or heading to the gym. You can easily start exercising by taking the stairs instead of an elevator. Walking the stairs can burn your calories, increase the heart rate and improve the amount of good cholesterol in the blood.
Sleep and Rest Enough
Allowing yourself a day or two to recharge your energy is not a bad idea especially during your long cruise vacation. Lack of sleep can cause fatigue and tiredness that you don't want to face too often throughout your trip. The correct amount of sleep will provide you with the energy that you need for the rest of your day.
